Tawian visitors focus on rural development

Four business and government dignitaries from Taiwan visited Washington State University's Jefferson County office and its local programs in Quilcene and Brinnon last month.

They joined local business leaders in discussing the need in both countries for business and government to “bridge the digital divide.”

According to the participants, their shared challenge is to ensure that isolated rural communities have the opportunity to participate in technology innovation and access the global economy.

The delegation ate lunch at Brinnon Comm. Center, where Joy Baisch of the WSU Connecting Schools and Communities Program prepared a seafood soup. Students from Quilcene are growing and harvesting oysters as part of their 4H youth entrepreneur shellfish club. (Read More)
